Five Patriots Earn Region 10 Honors; Pittman Named Player of the Year, Drumheller Freshman of the Year, Patterson Coach of the Year
MARTINSVILLE, VA -- The Patrick & Henry Community College women's basketball program earned major postseason recognition from NJCAA Region 10, as five student-athletes received all-region honors and Head Coach Melvin Patterson was named Region 10 Coach of the Year.
Three Patriots were named to the All-Region 10 Division III Women's Basketball Team, highlighting the continued growth and competitiveness of the program this season.
Freshman guard Mikayla Pittman led the Patriots offensively all year, averaging 17.9 points per game while shooting 72.7% from the free throw line and logging more than 27 minutes per contest. Her scoring consistency and ability to deliver in key moments earned her both All-Region honors and Region 10 Player of the Year recognition, solidifying her as one of the top players in the region.
Freshman center Kayla Drumheller was also named All-Region and added another major accolade, earning Region 10 Freshman Player of the Year honors. Drumheller averaged 12.5 points per game while shooting 35.6% from the field and 60.9% from the free throw line, starting 13 of 14 games. Her steady interior presence and production in the paint anchored the Patriots throughout the season.
Freshman guard/forward Nevaeh Haynes rounded out the All-Region selections. Haynes averaged 6.3 rebounds per game across 13 contests while shooting 36.4% from three-point range. Her work on the glass and defensive versatility provided stability and second-chance opportunities throughout the year.
In addition to the All-Region honors, Patrick & Henry placed three student-athletes on the Region 10 All-Freshman Team, showcasing the strength of the program's young core.
Drumheller headlined the freshman honors following her standout debut season. Fellow freshman center Sierra Bush earned All-Freshman recognition after averaging 6.8 rebounds per game, totaling 88 rebounds in 13 games while starting 12 contests. Bush collected 37 offensive rebounds and 51 defensive boards and added 42 total points, providing consistent physicality and effort inside.
Freshman guard Amari Hairston also earned All-Freshman honors after appearing in 14 games with eight starts. Hairston averaged 7.7 points per game, shooting 32.3% from the field and 72.0% from the free throw line. Her perimeter scoring and energy were key components of the Patriots' backcourt throughout the season.
Head Coach Melvin Patterson was named Region 10 Coach of the Year, a testament to the program's steady improvement and resilience. Under Patterson's leadership, the Patriots showed consistent development throughout the season and finished 2–0 in conference play.
With five student-athletes earning postseason recognition — including the Region Player of the Year and Freshman Player of the Year — Patrick & Henry women's basketball continues to build a strong foundation for the future.
