Louisburg College Tops Women’s Basketball, 69–56

MARTINSVILLE, VA — The Patrick & Henry Community College women's basketball team battled hard on Thursday evening but ultimately fell to Louisburg College, 69–56, in a competitive non-conference matchup.

Freshman guard Mikayla Pittman (Orlando, Fla.) led the Patriots with a game-high 23 points, continuing her strong scoring performances on the season. Pittman was aggressive on both ends of the floor and kept P&HCC within striking distance throughout the contest.

Sophomore guard Mya Mewborn (Virginia Beach, Va.) added 14 points, providing a steady offensive presence, while freshman center Kayla Drumheller (Charlottesville, Va.) contributed 11 points in the paint for the Patriots.

Additional scoring for P&HCC came from:

Louisburg was led by Nyla Powell, who scored 18 points, and Khouri White, who finished with 14 points to pace the Hurricanes' offense.

Despite strong individual efforts, the Patriots were unable to overcome Louisburg's balanced scoring and late-game execution.

"We'll take the lessons from tonight, get back to work, and continue building the habits that will make us better," said head coach Melvin Patterson. "If we keep playing together and committing on the defensive end, the results will follow."

P&HCC will return to action next Wednesday, January 14, when they host Ferrum College JV at Stone Hall. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
