Patriots Earn Region 10 Home Win Over Tidewater
MARTINSVILLE, VA –It was a great day for Patrick & Henry Community College basketball as both Patriots teams came away with NJCAA Region 10 Division III victories over Tidewater Community College in home action on Super Bowl Sunday.
Patrick & Henry set the tone early, scoring 43 points in the first half to take momentum into the locker room and maintaining control throughout the contest to secure the conference win over the Storm.
Wes Gobble (Charlottesville, Va.), a freshman guard, led all scorers with 23 points, pouring in 15 points in the first half. Kendrale Kidd, a sophomore guard, followed with 15 points, including 11 in the second half, while William Jones, a freshman guard, added 14 points.
Sophomore guard Jayse Barrett (Clayton, N.C.) finished with 12 points, scoring nine in the second half, and freshman guard Braelyn Gray (Winston-Salem, N.C.) contributed nine points. Freshman forward Sal Coca-Lobo recorded eight points, while sophomore center Nolan Prince (Rappahannock, Va.) added four points. Uzoky Correia (freshman) and Ramael Warren Jr. (Brooklyn, N.Y.), a freshman guard, each chipped in two points.
Tidewater was led by Joshwa Herold with 20 points, while Destin Love scored 15 points and Christian Grant added 14 for the Storm.
Following the win, head coach Dan Milloy credited his team's chemistry and mindset down the stretch.
"I felt like after a slow start to start the game, our guys settled in and played with a sense of togetherness," Milloy said. "We have to stay together, be for one another in this last stretch of games in order to make the run we hope to make. Definitely proud of everyone tonight. Great team win."
Patrick & Henry will look to build on the conference win when it returns to the court at home next week.
