P&HCC Rallies Past Oxford College of Emory, 68–64, at Dennis Spruell Classic
OXFORD, GA — The Patrick & Henry Community College men's basketball team earned a hard-fought 68–64 road victory over Oxford College of Emory University on Friday as part of the Dennis Spruell Classic.
Freshman guard Wes Gobble led the Patriots with 24 points, including 13 in the second half, as P&HCC mounted a strong comeback after trailing by nearly 20 points in the first half and entering the break down seven. Sophomore guard Jayse Barrett (Clayton, N.C.) added 12 points, while freshman guard Ramael Warren Jr. (Brooklyn, N.Y.) chipped in nine points. Freshman guard Braelyn Gray (Winston-Salem, N.C.) rounded out the scoring leaders with eight points.
Oxford College was led by Leo Etah, who finished with 22 points for the Eagles.
"This group is learning how to win, and tonight showed that growth," said head coach Dan Milloy. "After being down close to 20 in the first half and seven at halftime, our guys responded with effort and toughness. Proud of their resilience — great team win."
The Patriots will conclude play at the Dennis Spruell Classic on Saturday when they face Georgia Christian College in Oxford, Ga.
