Brian Henderson serves as the Assistant Vice President for Student Engagement and Athletic Director at Patrick & Henry Community College. Since taking over the athletics program in 2014, Henderson has transformed P&HCC Athletics from six sports and under 100 student-athletes into a thriving department with 15 NJCAA programs and more than 200 student-athletes.

A native of Danville, Virginia, Henderson is a proud graduate of Virginia State University, where he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Sports Management and captained the men’s basketball team. His career has been marked by a commitment to student-athlete development, academic excellence, and community engagement.

Under his leadership, P&HCC has seen significant growth, facility upgrades, and historic achievements, including the program’s first-ever NJCAA National Championship in 2024, when the Lady Pats softball team captured the Division III title. Beyond campus, Henderson is a national leader in collegiate athletics, serving as President of the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) for the 2025–26 term and as a board member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
Known for his philosophy that athletics is “Bigger Than Ball,” Henderson strives to ensure that every student-athlete is prepared for success both in competition and in life. His vision continues to shape P&HCC Athletics as a model of growth, resilience, and opportunity. Henderson and his wife Tiera, also a Virginia State University graduate, have five children and reside in Greensboro, North Carolina.
